Dr. Lulu Hu solved the crystal structure of DNA hydroxylase TET2, an important protein in the epigenetics field, clarified the mechanism of its substrate recognition and preference via biochemistry and molecular biology assays during her Ph.D training. She developed sequencing technologies of DNA 5hmC and RNA m6A modification during her Postdoctoral training and investigated the prospective for their application in early diagnosis of cancer. Dr. Hu published a few SCI papers in top international academic journals as first author or co-first author, including Nature, Cell, Cell Research and JACS. The work of TET2 structure and substrate recognition was awarded “First Prize of Natural Science of Ministry of Education”. Patents of the DNA 5hmC and RNA m6A technologies have been filed. Dr Hu’s research area is: Function of RNA m6A modification in human hematopoiesis; New technology of ChIP-Seq and RIP-Seq for ultra-low input of cells; Structures of important protein complex in RNA epigenetics and chromatin using X-ray crystallography and Cryo-EM.
