Dr. Guo graduated with Master Degree from Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University in 1993. In 2009, he went to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center to study as visiting scholar. He is proficient in the radiotherapy of breast cancer and abdominal tumor, especially with profound research on comprehensive treatment including radiotherapy for breast cancer and prostate cancer. He is now entitled with President of Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center, President of Shanghai Proton and Heavy Ion Hospital/ Proton and Heavy Ion Center of FUSCC, Vice President of Chinese Anticancer Association, Chairman designate of Radiotherapy Department of Chinese Anticancer Association, Vice Director of Oncology Department of Chinese Medical Doctor Association. His cancer research work used to be founded by National Natural Science Foundation of China and several municipal projects and Shanghai Science Committee projects. Till now, his team has already published about 60 articles on the influential magazines domestic or abroad.

Research Focus:

1. Clinical and translational research of breast cancer

He conducted prospective research on partial breast irradiation after breast-conserving surgery for early-stage breast cancer, whole-breast large-split radiotherapy, and particle therapy for breast cancer. He also focuses on translational research of prostate cancer and breast cancer, especially on the difference in sensitivity of radiotherapy for breast cells with different molecular typing and the application of radiosensitizers.

2. Clinical and translational research on proton heavy ion

Proton and heavy ion radiotherapy are the most advanced radiotherapy technology at present. The Proton and Heavy Ion Center of the Cancer Hospital of Fudan University/Shanghai Proton and Heavy Ion Hospital, which was officially opened in May 2015, is the third medical unit in the world to have both proton and heavy ion radiotherapy systems, and has treated more than a thousand cases of various tumors. Focusing on "precision medicine", the center focuses on the clinical individualization of proton and heavy ion radiotherapy for breast cancer and prostate, and defines the target groups for the multi-beam precision radiotherapy based on bioimaging and histological profile.
